In Active Learning, almost any activity can be designed to provide opportunities to work on almost every IEP/IFSP goal. With that in mind, participants will learn about how to make sure that planned activities focus on the student’s IEP/IFSP goals by using an Activity and Goal Matrix. This is part 2 of of this series. Participants from Part 1 were asked to choose a student from their caseload who would benefit from Active Learning. They should bring an example of a completed Activity and Goal Matrix along with a picture of a piece of equipment they secured or made to assist with implementing activities from the Activity and Goal Matrix. Although this is part two, new participants MAY register and learn from the discussion. Participants will gain an understanding of how using the Activity and Goal Matrix can also serve as a lesson plan for the teacher and the rest of the student’s educational team.

Certificates of Attendance with contact hours are available for participants. To qualify for a Certificate of Attendance, you must attend the Virtual Workshop and complete the evaluation by 5:00 pm on February 2, 2021. A link to the evaluation will be provided during the workshop and in a follow-up email. Certificates will be emailed the week of February 8, 2021.
 
Virtual Workshop is open to:  Early Interventionists, Early Intervention Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Anyone working with a child from birth - five years who is interested in strategies for working with children with vision impairments and/or multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness
 
Presenter Bio: Olaya Landa-Vialard, Ph.D. is a National Leadership Consortium in Sensory Disabilities Fellow and Graduate of Texas Tech University. She was a Co-PI for the Early Learning Visual Impairment Services Training Advancement (EL VISTA) program at Illinois State University. She has been a Bilingual Educational Diagnostician for Students with Visual Impairment/Blindness/Deafblindness/Multiple Disabilities, TVI, University Professor, Bilingual Family Engagement Coordinator for the Illinois State Deafblind Project, Project Reach, currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor for multiple university VI programs, and is currently the Director of APH ConnectCenter Programs.
