Accessing the Dream: Preparing DeafBlind Youth for a Self-Determined Life
Over the last 11 years, regional Transition Institutes have brought state deafblind projects, the National Center on DeafBlindness (NCDB), families, and young adults together to share stories and experiences, learn about resources, and practice self-determination skills. What has evolved tells a compelling story and has produced knowledge to share. This video product from the National Center on DeafBlindness uses a taxonomy of effective transition practices to: promote youth perspectives on self-determination, access, and networking; build the capacity of service providers to prepare youth for college and career; raise expectations of families so they can better support their child; and promote interagency collaboration.
In their own words, young adults, families and practitioners, educate us about what works when planning for the future! We hope that you will share this video with others who are interested in supporting young adults of transition age.

The Indiana DeafBlind Services Project newsletter, DeafBlind Focus, typically presented information on a single topic related to issues for children with deafblindness and was published two times per year. DeafBlind Focus issues have been posted to our website as a convenience to our readers. Within the four to six pages of each issue, you will find a major topical article, shorter related stories, and resources, as well as information on conferences and events. The newsletters are in PDF format, which can be opened by Adobe Acrobat Reader.
